the viennese secession
Vienna a city of wealth and culture. A city famous for its music, literature, café society, liberal minded newspapers and early cinema. A city that seems to be open to change, open to new ideas and open to experimentation. A bit like Dundee I guess. Dundee a city of discovery, dynamism and diversity. Qualities encapsulated by world leading research in life sciences, burgeoning media sector, vibrant arts, cultural life and a successful local economy.
Most cities in fact are well known for things similiar to these of Vienna or Dundee. Design can be same shall I dare say. In fact one type of design can very much be the same of another with just a tiny bit of difference, it's uniquesness.
Change-something that we all are very much afraid of, something that we are all resistant to. If we were more open to change, what difference would it make? Would innovations of design happen more? Would there be more cities like Vienna? Would design be more widely known to people and not be a mystery? Would this increase awareness of design?
